EFT for Cinnamon Rolls (Cinnabons)
I wanted to work on my "going to the mall means Cinnabons" association so here's what happened. I tapped (tapping refers to doing EFT, see references below) on "Even though I love Cinnabons, I deeply and completely accept myself."
The next Saturday the kids wanted to go to the Mall so off we went. When we drove up I immediately thought about the Cinnabons (the association of the Mall equals Cinnabons was obviously still present, but something had changed). Instead of the usual, "Oh, good, I can get Cinnabons," this time my thoughts were, "We'll see, I'm not sure I'll want to buy any this time, but I'm not committing to anything." (I like to keep my options open).
Then we walked through the mall. Adding to the mix, one of the kids absolutely loves Cinnabons, so buying them has always been something of a treat for him as well (there's a good justification if I've ever heard one). This time, we walked right by, I glanced inside the shop, and didn't feel much of anything. The smell was there, but it wasn't calling my name. I was hungry, so we eventually ate in the food court, but I had no other desire to buy Cinnabons, in fact I didn't even think about it again.
We walked out, and left, and that's that. Can I say the association is gone? I don't know, but I do know that I didn't feel the same desire to buy them, and that's what EFT does for me. Try it, and see if it could do the same for you.
Update: This was written in 2004. I've bought Cinnabons twice since.
